Electronic Safe

Electronic safes have become ever more popular as the technology has become more reliable and more affordable. Electronic safes are often designed to recognize fingerprints or voice commands, some even are set up on timers so that they can only be opened at specific times. They certainly provide safety and security in a number of different applications.

Many convenience stores now use electronic safes so that tellers need not have large amounts of cash in the register at a given time. The safe will periodically allow the teller to withdraw certain amounts of funds as needed. Just knowing that a convenience store uses such a safe has proven to be a great deterrent for many a would-be robber.

Electronic safes are also very popular for businesses and for use in the private sector. One of the disadvantages is that a fingerprint or voice-recognition safe can be rendered ineffective by duress. It the criminal has taken the owner hostage it is not hard to coerce the owner to open the safe.
