Home Safe
Home safes have always been popular, but have become even more so as the technology and security they provide has increased. Often home safes are wall safes, floor safes, or simple strongboxes. Designed for private use, they typically are rather small and designed to hold documents or other smaller valuables.
Some people make their home safes out of old office safes which can either be salvaged or purchased online. The advantage of this sort of safe is its size and heft as well as the amount of stuff that can be stored inside. The major disadvantage is that the lock technology is often outdated and the safe can be cracked very easily.
Home safes can be purchased for a few hundred dollars up to the tens of thousands of dollars. The important thing to consider when purchasing such a safe is what are you trying to protect and how advanced should the safe be to protect it effectively? Is fire protection a concern or even water or dust proofing? Answer these basic questions and the decision should become quite easy.
